Captivating Standing Poses
Good evening, everyone ^^
A new blog category about photography stories has been added.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could share my photography methods, tips, and techniques here, and apply them to bring your doll to life (*'▽')
Today, we're talking about **standing poses.
Standing poses are quite difficult and a little dangerous due to the risk of falling.
Therefore, the best way to maintain stability is to stand with your feet wide apart and straight like this.
However, this is the pose I want to do the least because it makes me look like a doll.
Standing to preserve the doll is fine, but I don't really want to use that pose when taking photos.
So, there's a standing pose I often do — supported only at a single point in the back — that gives you a wide stance, which is stable, cool, and girlish at the same time.
I call it the "Zerobandachi" (Zero-Balance Stance). This time, I'll show you how to do it.
Step-by-Step Instructions
①Bend both legs at the hip joints to the left.
② Your upper body will then lean to the left, so hold the hips and bend your upper body to the right.
In this position, your right shoulder will naturally bend to a certain angle, making it higher. The reason will be explained later.
③This will cause your neck to tilt to the right, so tilt it back to the left in the opposite direction.
④This completes the "lower back curve" (S-curve) position.
Then, shape the arms and hands to your preference.
The "S" Curve Rule
The reason I tilt the left shoulder up and tilt the neck to the left is to create an "S" shape like this.
This is the rule of attractive poses — the foundation of posing in portrait photography.
If you incorporate this into your doll photography, it will be very effective and will instantly bring your doll to life.
Variations
By leaning the upper body and raising both arms, you can create a sexy pose known as the "armpit charm" pose.
On the other hand, you can also adjust by narrowing the stance, softening the angles, slightly twisting the hips, or adding subtle variations.
In the advanced version, this pose becomes even more girlish and cute.
I often take full-body shots in standing poses, then crop them afterward.
Final Thoughts
For me, standing poses are the most difficult and profound aspect of doll photography — and the situation that best expresses the photographer's personality.
Doll photography has a very important element: **posing can make or break the shot. Please use this as a reference.
In this corner, we'll continue talking about such photography techniques, so please keep visiting us! (^_^)
